Why I love it
The Orchard Garden, near Clyde and Alexandra, Central Otago, is another of my favourite wedding venues.
It offers you so you many options and is one of my favourite Central Otago wedding venues for photography.
With the maze, interlinked high hedged gardens, secret wooded pathways, open green space, colourful flower beds and, of course, the iconic Blue Door, Orchard Gardens offers so many choices of space for your ceremony and photos.
The gardens also offer shade and protection from wind plus the indoor Packing Shed for your reception, all these take away any worry of what the weather might do on your wedding day.
And the people at Orchard Gardens are lovely - so accommodating and keen to make your day just as you dreamed it would be.
I love photographing weddings here and each time discover new gems around the gardens.

What it offers you
The gardens, as their names sake implies, have been converted from old orchards. The high hedges create a maze and several secret garden rooms for the ceremony, drinks gatherings and photos.
The reception room is in the beaut old fruit packing shed, full of character and warmth.
Plus you can have the whole place to yourself - ideal for up to about 50 people.
Or, if you're going for the intimate wedding option, you can have a few rooms, the ruins for your ceremony and then a table in the restaurant for your party.
Best of all if the weather is unkind the fireside in the lounge offers a romantic, cosy backdrop for your ceremony.

'We had the absolute pleasure of having Celia photograph my in-laws’ wedding at Danseys Pass, and we are honestly still blown away by the experience and the photos.
From the moment we met her before the wedding we knew she was going to be perfect. she arrived morning of the wedding with heaps of informative coms prior, Celia brought such a calm, warm, and professional energy that immediately put everyone at ease knowing the photos were handled exactly what you hope for on such an emotional day.
The setting at Danseys Pass was already breathtaking, but Celia somehow made it look even more magical through her lens. She captured every moment so beautifully—from the smallest details to the biggest emotions. The candid shots, the heartfelt exchanges, the laughter, the happy tears—every single image tells a story.
One of the things that really stood out was how naturally she connected with everyone, especially the older family members who don’t really do photos or like being apart of photos. Celia blended in so seamlessly that it never felt like we were being "photographed"—she just became a part of the day. And yet, the moments she managed to capture were pure perfection'. 💛

I've been so fortunate to have photographed several wonderful weddings at Oliver's in Clyde and it is one of my all time favourite venues in Central Otago.
It's also great for accommodation for you or your guests if you're getting married somewhere else in Clyde or Alexandra.
Beautifully restored by owners Andrea and David Ritchie, Olivers reopened its fabulous wedding venue, accommodation, restaurant, cafe and craft brewery in all it's former glory - but even better.
The gardens and courtyard are perfect for the ceremony and drinks and the venue provides character wedding reception room and accommodation all in one place.
If you are looking for a country chic venue in Central Otago you can't go past it.
Plus from my perspective Olivers has oh so many stunning photo options both within the grounds of Olivers and close by in historic Clyde and at Lake Dunstan, just a couple of minutes drive.
I love Olivers. We stayed here for our own intimate wedding!
