Sometimes tough times show us what's really, really important to us. Amidst the shock, uncertainty and disruption of lockdown, Saffron and Andrew had to postpone their wedding. They reset the date for just after lockdown and brought it home, even though it meant they could only have 10 people at their wedding and that their family might not be able to attend. But as luck would have it the numbers allowed at a wedding were changed from 10 to 100, the day before the wedding! Woohoo. So Saffron and Andrew's families were able to grab last minute flights and be there.
In a heartfelt ceremony, with 13 of their most important people (plus me and Celebrant Jo), Saffron and Andrew said their 'I Do's' at home in their garden, a place that is very special to them. It couldn't have been better.
May in Central Otago can be cold, I mean COLD, not just chilly but in the minus degrees with thick frost and fog. But they braved it and the minute they said their 'I Do's' the sun came streaming through and warmed everyone's hearts and bones. There is on occasion a magical 30 minutes in the late afternoon in Central Otago when the sun breaks through under the cloud at an oblique angle in soft pure, golden light. And we got it this day! Casting a golden light on their faces and love in the last rays before the sun went down. Pure magic!
Then back home to the warm fire, champagne and family celebration. Couldn't have been better if you tried.
